What is agentic AI?

Agentic AI is a system of AI “agents” that can make decisions and take steps toward an objective — often coordinating with other agents — rather than only responding to prompts. Recent public-sector guidance describes agentic AI as autonomous, LLM-enhanced agents able to plan, act, and iterate to meet goals.

Why it matters for Service Management

Agentic AI can do the work a human agent would normally do — safely and with guardrails — such as password resets and unlocks, triage and routing, data enrichment from CMDB, low-risk change execution (with approvals), pattern detection for incidents, and drafting KBs from solved tickets. Safeguards typically include sandboxing, least-privilege access, approvals, and full audit trails.

Agentic AI vs. “regular” AI (assistive)

  • Agentic AI: Plans multi-step workflows and acts (e.g., perform a password reset), under policy and approvals.
  • Assistive AI: Advises (searches KBs, summarizes threads, recommends next steps) but does not execute changes.

For retrieval tasks, many teams adopt “agentic RAG” so the AI can iterate over sources until it’s confident.

How vendors approach AI in service management

Atlassian (Jira Service Management)

  • Virtual Service Agent handles Tier-1 requests across the help center, Slack or Microsoft Teams.
  • “Atlassian Intelligence” summarizes context, recommends articles/SMEs, and supports AIOps-driven incident workflows.

Freshworks (Freshservice)

  • Freddy Agent provides a 24/7 conversational assistant in Slack/Teams; Freddy Copilot accelerates agent work (summaries, replies); Freddy Insights surfaces trends and opportunities to improve.

SysAid

  • SysAid Copilot embeds generative and agentic AI throughout ITSM, including a Teams-based chatbot, an AI agent builder, and analytics for usage and containment.

Halo (HaloITSM)

  • Offers built-in AI and automation across ITSM — including self-service chatbots, AI-assisted ticket handling, and usage analytics.

Atomicwork

  • Positions itself as an AI-native, agentic service management platform centred on a universal AI agent that meets employees in their flow of work (Slack, Teams, email, browser).
  • Focus areas include Tier-1 automation/deflection, permissions-aware answers, and end-to-end workflow execution across connected tools with enterprise guardrails and analytics.

Your agentic-AI adoption roadmap

  1. Prioritize Use Cases — Start with high-volume, low-risk tasks (password resets, unlocks, distribution-list updates, software requests).
  2. Data & Guardrails — Prepare KB/CMDB, define approvals and RBAC, sandbox agent actions for safe evaluation.
  3. Agent Design — Map intents → tools (ticketing, IdP, chat) and decide where agentic workflows run (inside your ITSM platform or via an orchestration layer).
  4. Pilot & Measure — Run A/B pilots; track deflection, FCR, AHT, MTTR, SLA, and CSAT to prove value and tune prompts/workflows.
  5. Migrate & Scale — Move from assistive → agent-proposed actions → human-approved actions → fully automated for agreed tasks, with ongoing auditing.

What We Deliver

Automation that transforms how teams operate.

At BDQ, we implement automation that transforms how teams operate — enhancing efficiency, consistency, and responsiveness across departments. Whether it's intelligent ticket triage, seamless workflow automation, or data-driven reporting, our services are designed to reduce manual effort and deliver measurable results. Explore how we help organisations unlock value at every stage of the service and project lifecycle.

01

Intelligent Service Triage & Ticket Handling

Example: In our AI Invoice Automation blog post, we show how automation and AI streamline finance operations using tools like Jira and Xero.

  • AI-Powered Triage — Automatically categorise and prioritise requests using AI-based analysis of sentiment, urgency, and content.
  • Automated Workflows — Use smart rules to escalate tickets, assign work, or populate fields based on SLAs and request content.
  • Self-Improving Agents — Machine learning helps your automation adapt over time, enhancing triage accuracy and response quality.
02

Workflow Automation Across IT & Business

See it in action: The Employ HR Pro case study showcases how automated onboarding and templates improved operational consistency.

  • Integrated Systems — Connect HR platforms (like BambooHR) and device managers (e.g. Jamf) for seamless onboarding/offboarding.
  • Issue Syncing — Link tickets across IT and dev teams for real-time collaboration (e.g. bug fixes updating ITSM tickets).
  • Asset Management — Automate ownership updates, track usage, and flag warranty or licence expirations before they become issues.
03

Change & Risk Management

Case study highlight: CloudGuard used automation to create a "single pane of glass" for managing incidents and change across systems — see the CloudGuard case study.

  • Automated Change Requests — Integrate with CI/CD pipelines to auto-generate and prioritise change tickets from code commits.
  • Risk Assessment Models — Trigger workflow branches and approvals based on configurable risk criteria — reducing bottlenecks and improving governance.
04

Data-Driven Insights & Reporting

Example: NAZ used dynamic reporting in Asana to move away from spreadsheets and PDFs — streamlining visibility across multi-year goals.

  • Smart Value Extraction — Use regex and smart values to pull structured data from unstructured fields for better visibility and reporting.
  • Enriched Workflows — Leverage connected data from asset registers and CMDBs to drive smarter routing, notifications, and escalations.
05

No-Code Customisation & Scalability

Case study insight: Wren's automation journey included BDQ's Real Signature App, which streamlined key approval processes and reduced back-and-forth admin.

  • Visual Automation Builders — Empower teams to build and maintain workflows without needing dev resources.
  • Enterprise-Grade Volume — Run millions of automation rules monthly — proven to scale across high-volume operations.

What tools do you support for automation?

We work across Jira, Asana, Monday.com, HaloITSM, Zephyr, and more. We use native tools and custom integrations depending on your needs.

Can automation be used outside of IT?

Yes, absolutely. We've implemented automation for HR, finance, marketing, and operations teams — such as automating onboarding or reporting tasks.

Is coding required to build automation?

No, not with us. We empower your teams with no-code or low-code builders, while also offering advanced integration support if needed.

How do you ensure ROI from automation?

We design automation with measurable outcomes — time saved, SLA improvement, and reduced manual errors. Our discovery phase identifies high-impact areas first.

How does AI fit into automation?
